Updates Regarding Matters Important to BBHS
May 30, 2013
Administrative Changes
The year 2014 will be the beginning of the roll-out of the Federal Affordable Care Act. This will start the process of many healthcare reform initiatives that will significantly change the structure, operation and reimbursement of our environment. I believe we are on the right path to being a viable part of this future; however, I believe that the Administrative effort required to stay the course exceeds our current capacity. Therefore, I am making the following changes in the structure of the Agency's Administration.
The former Clinical Director/COO position currently held by Bob Bushorn has been split into two positions; Chief Clinical Officer and Chief Development Officer. These positions will be filled as follows:
Chief Clinical Officer (CCO):
I am pleased to announce that Marae Martin, LISW-S, LICDC has been selected for this position. Marae currently serves as Program Manager, Hamilton Counseling Center and was the Manager of the Consultation and Crisis Intervention program prior to that. Before joining BBHS Marae was the Executive Director of Southwestern Ohio Serenity Hall in Hamilton. In addition, Marae brings a wealth of prior experience in a broad range of mental health and substance use disorder services. Marae is also very visible in the Butler County Human Service community and currently serves on the SELF and Butler County NAMI boards. I am very pleased to have Marae assume this position and have the utmost confidence that she will sustain current areas of excellence, implement additional improvements and effectively integrate them into our evolving structure and operations.
Chief Development Officer (CDO):
Bob Bushorn will fill this position and it includes many responsibilities for which there has never been sufficient time and/or resources. BBHS is now engaged in several significant quality improvement, program development (Health Now), IT/EHR/Data Mgmt. and Primary Health Solution integration endeavors. These undertakings are all critical to our future success and have grown well beyond part time avocations. Therefore, they need and will now receive the investment they deserve. These are areas for which Bob has always had a passion and I look forward to watching our plans become realities.
Chief Financial Officer (CFO):
A very significant change for Sherrie Goodall and her team is the end of our financial services contract with TLC, effective June 30, 2013. This will allow BBHS to recoup Sherrie's exclusive attention and allow her to reassign support resources to BBHS business. This will support Sherrie and her staff's ability to absorb the increased demands generated by the Agency's growth. Equally important, it will allow Sherrie to invest more time beyond the day-to-day with financial analysis support to our decision making. I know that Sherrie is as anxious to have that opportunity back as I am to have it.
Chief Medical Officer/Medical Director:
Dr. D'Imperio's roles and responsibilities are unchanged but somewhat restrained by the need for additional psychopharmacological support, especially for children. A number of recruitment efforts are on-going and I believe that have met with some success and created promising leads. One of Dr. D'Imperio's key initiatives to date has been the development of the CATT psychopharmacologic dashboard. After a considerable investment of time and programming, we now have a very tailored CATT psychopharmacological module that provides the medical staff with quick access to key chart information. In addition, the module's objective is to reduce redundant data entry and to integrate other sources of treatment information. The training and implementation of CATT 3.4 will begin with the Medical staff and once completed will significantly advance BBHS' compliance with important Federal EHR standards. In addition, Dr. D'Imperio will continue his ongoing efforts to integrate our medical services with our non-medical services and primary care at Primary Health Solutions. These are all critical goals for BBHS and I am certain Dr.D'Imperio will lead to their attainment.
Executive Assistant / Human Resources:
Connie Browne has performed exceptionally in this position especially through our most recent growth spurt. That growth has compromised her ability to handle the more specialized HR duties, as well as, to assist me with special projects. Therefore, we are using the aforementioned redeployment of TLC time to assume two significant parts of Connie's position; time clock and payroll. This change will allow Connie to remain responsive to the many individual HR/benefit tasks and supports our staff enjoys. However, it will allow me to invest more of Connie's talents into some important but currently under resourced Agency needs; internal & external communication and quality marketing material. I believe it is vitally important that we improve our in-house communication and substantially increase our sharing with the community the many great things we do and are planning to do. Also, I believe we must also improve and maintain the quality and accuracy of the Agency's marketing material. I am certain Connie will bring these matters to a level of quality we will all appreciate.
Health Now Project Director:
Alan Mabry has provide invaluable leadership to the development of our health home program. The demands on the Phase One programs were extraordinary and we would not have achieved our current staffing and operational development (including CARF accreditation!) without his services. Alan will be transitioning his Health Now responsibilities to Bob Bushorn as we continue to develop that resource. In addition, Bob will assume the responsibility for our health center based therapists. I hope to maintain Alan's services to assist with Health Now marketing, clinical training and support of the regional network. I want to invite you to join me in congratulating Alan with a job well done along with a big thank you.
The aforementioned changes and transition will require time to establish and transition. Rest assured, I will keep you up to date regarding our progress and I want to thank you in advance for your patience and support during that time.
Thanks,
Kim
